The fifth semester of B.Sc. CSIT introduces basic elements of algorithm design and analysis, software development cycles, cryptosystem design principles, system modeling and simulation, and fundamental concepts of web development, multimedia, and image processing

Design and Analysis of Algorithms

This course covers the basics of designing and analyzing computer algorithms, including asymptotic notations and analysis, divide and conquer, greedy methods, dynamic programming, graph algorithms, NP-completeness, and approximation algorithms. The main objectives are to analyze algorithm performance, understand design techniques, apply design paradigms, solve moderately difficult problems, and demonstrate the hardness of simple NP-complete problems.

System Analysis and Design

System Analysis and Design familiarizes students with the concepts of information systems development including systems development life cycle, different approaches to systems development, project management, planning, analysis, design, implementation and maintenance. This course also covers some fundamental concepts of object oriented systems analysis and design. The main objective of this course is to provide knowledge of different concepts of system analysis and design so that students will be able to develop information systems using different methodologies, tools, techniques, and approaches.

Cryptography

This course covers the principles and design of cryptosystems, including traditional and modern techniques such as ciphers, cryptosystems, hash functions, authentication systems, and network security protocols. The course aims to familiarize students with cryptography and its applications, helping them develop a basic understanding of cryptographic mechanisms.

Simulation and Modelling
